Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Body Rashes While On Plavix And Lipitor?
I help watch a 92 year old female who is on Plavix, baby aspirin, isosorbide, Lipitor, and Inderal . Because she has developed a rash, urticaria that comes and goes in severity, a Nurse Practioner placed her on Prilosec for a short period of time instead of using corticosteroid. What would possible reaction to this combination be?
Urticaria that comes and goes in severity is indicating a possible allergy reaction to external allergen or even those ingested.
Prisolec is reducing the hyper acidity of the stomach; won't help much with hives/urticaria. Instead, Zantac (Ranitidine or Famotidine) which are also used to ease stomach hyperacidity can be used to treat idiopathic hives as in this patient case. Recall this to her caring nurse or doctor.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Albana Sejdini,
