Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Body Tremors While On Amiodarone For Atrial Fibrillation?
I started taking amiodarone for atrial fibrillation about one ago and found that my essential tremor got substantially worse. Is there anything that be done to help this, as it does interfere with my everyday living. The amiodarone has done such a good job at reducing my heart rate, so I really donèt want to stop it, unless there is a similar drug that does not have tremor as a side effect. Thank-you for your advice!
Neurological side effects. Based on the history you seem to have developed neurological side effect causing tremors which is more likely to occur at higher doses.
Ask your doctor for its dose adjustment of amiodarone and also to rule out other causes of tremors such as Parkinson's disease.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
