What Causes Bodyache And Fever After Taking Penicillin?

I recently had a tooth root extracted. Along with that, I took a regimen of penicillin for a week. This ended last Tues. starting at the end of the last week I started feeling achy. I took my temp Monday and had 101. Yesterday, it was normal 98.8 and now it is back up to 101.

Hi,

Well, your explanation does not look like it is due to the tooth or the extraction, however, it looks like it is due to viral infection causing fever and lethargy.

You can take Acetaminophen to reduce body temperature and take sufficient rest. Take light meals and drink plenty of water.

In case if the fever continues to recur then you can consult an Emergency room or a General Physician and get a complete blood picture done.

It can help in ruling out the cause of fever and accordingly, treatment can be done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
