What Causes Bowel Incontinence And Pain In The Legs?
I don t have control over my bladder or bowels. I also have pain that goes from my arch up my leg around clean. It really hurts when I try to stand up. It doesn t hurt after I am on my feet and walk. Sometimes the pain wakes me up at night. Could this be MS?
Loss of bladder or bowel control can be related to different possible causes. If there are any issues with the nerves that control these functions, then this can occur. Multiple sclerosis is one cause for abnormal function of the nerves but there are other causes as well. Abnormal function of the nerves is called neuropathy and some of the other causes include-
(1) Trauma to the nerves (2) Diabetes (3) Liver or kidney disease (4) A side effect of medication (5) Low levels of vitamin B12 or folate (6) Thyroid disease (7) Autoimmune diseases such as lupus or rheumatoid arthritis (8) Infection
You would need a complete workup to determine the cause.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
