What Causes Breakout Of Small Rashes On My Arms?

yes, I am having small rashes break out on my arms and is spreading up slowly, I wonder if this is due to the meds I am on, my doctor has me on 1.metoprolol er 50mg, for high blood pressure, 2. amitriptyline 25mg for anxity and depression, and for pain hydorcordone 5/325, for I was assaulted by neighbor and had a rib that was separated last year re injured when a rib was dislocated at sternum to the spine...and these rashes didn t begin until I began taking the above mentioned meds...I rarely take the hydrocodone for pain now, and I noticed one med says caution to sun exposure, so can sun make rashes with regards to the amitriptyline, that is the one that has the caution for sun...curios. thank you. My doctor has moved and I am or shall see a new one in a few months for a follow up for the high blood pressure meds...due to stress....sorry I must end this conversation and suffer for I have no funds and I will not pay for this....have a great day....sad and wrong. but I get it...

Hello,

As per your case history, you are suffering from Polymorphic light eruption.

My treatment advice is:
1. Avoid sun exposure and use a good sunscreen lotion with SPF more than 30.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like Fusiderm-B cream twice daily on affected skin.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetirizine twice daily for 7 to 10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
