Hi,

Difficulty in breathing through your nose might be due to reasons like Nasal pathology like Deviated nasal septum. Enlargement of turbinate bone (Turbinates are bony shells covered with mucosa inside nasal cavity. The mucosa may get swollen due to infection, allergy, cold weather) or due to over use of decongestant drops (like Otrivin nasal drops) which you are using.

Nasal Decongestant drops should not be used more than 7 to 10 days. If used more than 7-10 days, they may lead to nasal blockage by causing rebound congestion in the nose. You may use Saline nasal spray, Steroid nasal spray (like Mometasone) and Antihistaminic (like Cetrizine). Also do steam inhalation. Avoid cold food and dust. If your symptoms are not improving after following above measures, then it would be advisable to consult an Otolaryngologist doctor. He/She might do nasal endoscopy to find out the cause of your nasal blockage.

Hope this answers your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Riddhi Shah
