Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Breathing Difficulty And Fatigue After Taking Eliquis?
I was prescribed eliquis. After two days following the prescribed dosage, I would awake with a foggy feeling, difficult breathing and exhaustion. The duration of fogginess increased until it was constant. I also followed the prescription for potassium chloride and experienced dependent edema in both legs feet and ankles. I discontinued both. I have no fogginess and breathing and endurance is great. Edema is diminishing and legs, ankles, feet are approaching 90% pre potassium chloride condition. I am hesitant to experiment any further, I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.
Eliquis is having Epixaban. It is a newer anticoagulant drug. It can cause allergic reactions in susceptible individuals. So you might be having an allergic reaction to Eliquis which is causing all those symptoms.
Your symptoms are gone once you stopped it. So the possibility of allergy to Eliquis is high in your case. So better not to take it again without consulting your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
