What Causes Breathing Difficulty And Pain In The Legs?

I had difficulty breathing after experiencing pain in both my legs after a 20 yard walk from the porch to the carport. Along with the breathing crisis, I experienced sharp pain in my shoulders which did not radiate. I have difficulty walking anyway with a debridement of the right heel, amputation of the two middle toes on the right foot and an amputation of the left primary toe, the amputations have long since healed. I also have arthritis in both knees due to military and VA-treated ACLR, bursitis in both hips and arthritis in my lower back. I managed to regain my breath after a painful, and frightening, time of breathing through my hands and forcing myself to breathe. Other symptoms is a persistent cough with a slight wheeze and occasional squeak/honk sound. I have also been using a cpap machine for about 5 months. Should I be worried and bring this issue up to my GP and other specialist, and which words will sum up this situation in 10 words or less? What can I tell my husband to do since we live more than 45 minutes from any emergency room?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Breathing difficulty sounds to be related with cardiopulmonary disturbances which should be addressed to expert cardiologist or pulmonologist for further management.

The pain in legs can be muscular, ligament, bone related or else and has to be evaluated by your PCP first for further guidelines.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel,
