What Causes Breathing Difficulty In A COPD Patient Despite Using CPAP?

Hi, My father ( age 58 ) has been diagnosed with Obstruction Sleep Apnea. His oxyen saturation in blood was 89%. Currently he is using CPAP oxygen machine while he is sleeping and this was advised by the doctor. However, this has not yielded fruitful results. Though he continues using CPAP machine, he is still facing difficulties in breathing at night and day time. One of the doctor has advised us to get CT PNS Scan done. Will this help my father???

Hi,

There's a lot of treatments for COPD. The CPAP increases life expectancy and MIGHT lower daytime somnolence, BUT beta agonists, steroids, prasimpathetic blockers (spiriva) home oxygen are going to also be used in most with COPD.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
