What Causes Breathing Difficulty While Having Heart Valve Disease?

My brother has had breathing problems several years. He recently almost passed out because he couldn t breathe. He was taken to a doctor, who did some tests and determined his main problem was his blockage in the aorta valve and not his lungs. what is the connection between his breathing problems and the blockage in the valve? He was treated by TVR on his valve, but still has breathing problems. Can you advise us about this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Breathing problems with aorta valve disease could be due to less blood flow to the lung due to which normal oxygen supply is not fulfilled inspite of respiration and this lack of oxygen in blood leads to breathing problems. After surgery this problem should've been gone. Lung Function Test and CT thorax can be done, now to rule out lung problem. Get well soon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Arihant Pandey
