What Causes Breathing Difficulty?

My husband is having a hard time breathing and says he feels like he is burning up and is dry heaving and really ill to his stomach and he seems fine daily until he attempts even the smallest task then he will start the dry heaving and burning up symptoms this has been going on for roughly 4 months any ideas on what this means
