What Causes Breathing Problem In A Diabetic Patient While On Insulin?

I am insulin-defendant diabetic, on dialysis since April and now have a pain in my upper back on the right and find it hard to get my breath at times. My doctor looked for pleurisy through an X-ray, but found nothing. I had sarcoidosis in the early 2000's. Any ideas?

Thanks for contacting with your health concern and after reviewing your case history I'm of the following opinion:

1. since you are insulin dependent thus check with your blood sugar level to exclude kussmual's breathing [short term complication of diabetes]
2. As you are on dialysis also [diabetic nephropathy] thus due to chronic kidney disease [CKD] which can lead to anemia and shortness of breath
3. As sarcoidosis involves 90% of lungs it is primarily a lung disease, thus breathing problem could be chronic complication of the same. [lung fibrosis/scarring]
4. As main treatment of sarcoidosis is prednisolone [steroid] thus could be an aggravating factor in the development of diabetes.
5. One may ask for serum creatinine, renal ultrasound and CT chest to explore further into the symptoms.
