What Causes Breathlessness, Cough And Congestion Despite Taking Z-Pak?

Long time difficulty breathing,cough w/ clear thick mucus ..headache,have had two courses of Z-pac. Exhausted....with 40+ years of Crohn s disease I m just tired of long term side effects from many treatments. You want me to see G.P. Again and follow up w/ him,he s been out of town for two weeks.Poor circulation & frequent falls due to weak muscles & neuropathy.Bronchitis......wheezing,runny nose for weeks(allergies,hay fever)What should I do ? Am drinking fluids & taking benedryl & using Proair HFA.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of breathlessness, cough and congestion despite taking Z-Pak which seems to be due to severe chest infection/ chronic upper respiratory tract infection. Compromised immunity is responsible for your condition.

Need not to worry. You should avoid intake of outside food. I would suggest you to take cough expectorants and do warm saline gargles. You should take steam inhalation on daily basis.

You should take antibiotic Amoxicillin in combination with antiallergic medication Sinarest. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get X-ray chest and throat swab test done and start treatment after proper diagnosis. Avoid oily and sharp food. Drink plenty of fluids.
