What Causes Breathlessness When Diagnosed With Emphysema?

hi I have been diagnose with emphazema approx. six years ago. I also have a hieta hernia in the last couple of months ive notice more sob when I eat I have trouble with breathing also. when I cough I have a round bulge in my upper abdomen . do you think maybe it could be the hernia

Welcome to health care magic,

Yes,it could be possible that your hiatus hernia is causing this breathlessnes because in this hernia,the protruding part might cause compression over diaphragm leading to irritation of pleural tissue and thereby cause difficulty in breathing and sometimes wheezing with chest pain.

When we cough,it actually increases intra-abdominal pressure and descent of diaphragm in the abdominal cavity leading to temporary bulge in abdomen.

But usually it is not serious but consult your doctor if it troubles you more.
