What Causes Breathlessness With Pain In Rib Cage?

What causes me to feel slightly breathless, momentarily when I lie down on my right or change sleeping positions in bed or if I walk too fast or much, like climbing stairs. Also there is a pain in my right rib cage when I try to breath more deeply. BUT all these symptoms only last a minute or two, not longer. As long as I am not exerting myself, I seem to breathe normally, . . .

Hi thanks for contacting HCM...

Noted here pain and dyspnea mainly on exertion that you are mentioning.
First get your total hemoglobin estimation with peripheral smear examination...
If anemia is present corrected with iron or vitamin B12 and folic acid tablet whichever requires. As anemia can lead dyspnea...

If you are having cardiac history then dyspnea can occur...
For that ECG or ECHO done...
Measure your blood pressure also...

If you are taking excess stress then also slight dyspnea can occur...

As far as rib pain is concerned, if ribs are tender to touch it could be costochondritis or simple musculoskeletal pain...

Here no need for worry.
Consult physician .
If needed after examination then for respiratory causes x ray or PFT useful.

Take care....
