What Causes Bright Flashes Of Light In Peripheral Vision?

/Thank you, what causes lightening strikes to the eye, neon bright in color? I have had this occur occasionally for years and always have an annual eye exam. This had never been a concern, however, I am over 80 now and the main care giver so I need to keep healthy in all aspects. I also have an annual physical and am in very good health. YYYY@YYYY

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Flashes of light is considered to be a symptom of retinal tear or hole and retina getting irritated subsequently and for that we need to laser the tear or hole of there is indeed one. You should have to undergo a complete retinal examination and then we can be sure of the diagnosis.

Hope it helps.
