Hello, I have developed bright red slightly raised bumps they are not perfectly round and have white rings around them. They are spread across my abdomen, back, thighs, right hip and both feet. Some appear to be in lines and others in groups. Any ideas?

Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic

I would keep a likely possibility of a fungal infection/tinea. Tinea usually presents with round or annular patches with central clearing and peripheral raised rim/margin. The patches may not b perfectly round or oval. Itching is usually associated.

I would suggest that you seek an appointment with a dermatologist for a confirmatory diagnosis. The diagnosis can also be confirmed by KOH preparation made from the scale to detect for fungal elements.

If this comes out to be a fungal infection, you may try a topical OTC antifungal e.g clotrimazole 1% cream, twice daily. However, since the infection seems to involve a widespread area therefore it would be better to also take oral antifungals in addition to topical cream.

Oral antifungals are prescription medications and I would suggest that you seek an appointment with a dermatologist for the needful.

Hello,
Thanks for the query,
You might have developed fungal infection.
Your description matches with that.
Usually fungal infections are itchy and recurrent.
Treatment can be with oral antifungals as well as with topical antifungals.
Treatment must be continued for at least a month to prevent recurrance.
Various antifungal powders like candid are also available which also help in controlling the moisture.
Please meet a dermatologist for exact diagnosis.
Let me know if you have any other doubt.
