What Causes Bright Red Spotting While Passing Stool?
Hi, I ve just gone to the washroom, and there was some red leaking out of my stool (kind of like the blood I d normally see for my period). I did not notice any red on the toilet paper though. The red was fairly bright. I also tried to think of what I ve eaten, like beets that could have coloured it, but I haven t had anything particularly colourful. I m not in any pain, and there is no itching or burning. I feel completely normal right now. This is the first time I ve noticed this in my stool.
Hello, Thanks for writing in to hcm. It does happen at times when a person has constipation , small capillaries of the rectum break and lead to this problem.
Kindly observe carefully for further episodes which if it occurs may need a general surgeon's opinion to rule out hermorrhoids.
Having a diet rich in fibres and drinking good amounts of water can help soften the stools and avoid any such episodes. Hope your query was answered. Regards, Dr.Riyanka
