What Causes Bronchitis And Hardened Mucus?

I am an asthma sufferer but had a very bad bout of brongchitus and hardened mucus. I am coughing and as soon as i start i have what appears to be a bronchospasm and really battles to get any breath in or out. Now my problem is that i feel extremely tired and weak. Can that be caused by the spasms?

Some times in asthma patient lower respiratory tract infection can cause thick viscid mucous with coughing and fever. In my opinion 1st get done chest x ray and rule out infection. Other treatment for thick sputum is mucolytic and expectorant agents like N acetly cystine (NAC) , ambroxol etc. Take these. Vigorous chest physiotherapy is also helpful for expectoration.antibiotics needed if infection is present. Nebulization with NAC and inhalex can liquify sputum.
