What Causes Brown And Stringy Vaginal Discharge While On Mirena IUD?

Recently I have been experiencing brownish discharge and occasionally white stringy discharge. I have read that stress could be the cause of this, and I have been overwhelmed and stressed to the max lately. I have also read that they could be early pregnancy symptoms but I have had the mirena IUD since February and my partner and I use condoms as well during sex. while I was pregnant I was tested for STDs as a precaution, I was negative for an STD, but I read that this discharge could be related to a parasite which I further read to be a sexually transmitted infection. neither myself or my partner have been involved with any other person, so I doubt that could be an option but I don t know what to expect so I m hoping for advice and/or guidance..

Hello,

* Browny and stingy vaginal discharge indicates vaginitis most likely due to fungal or bacterial infection of the vagina (which can be possible with due precautions of intercourse also and is not necessarily sexually transmitted).

* This can be related to low hydration level, the sequence of alteration in vaginal flora or pH or else.

Here are some best tips of your better recovery

- drink more liquids

- avoid intercourse (even protected) till recovery

- get IUD checked for any displacement or other problems

- vaginal swab with lab person and prescription of antibiotics, antifungal medications as per the report of the same.
