What Causes Brown And Watery Discharge After Miscarriage?

I had a miscarriage about 6 weeks ago and had medical management which didnt work, i had a third scan and the retained products measured below the required size for a d and C so i was advised to just leave it to mother nature, now i have a brown smelly sometimes watery discharge, no pain. What is this??
