What Causes Brown Colored Vaginal Discharge?

Hey. I have a clumpy weird brown discharge in my underwear. I skipped my period a week and a half ago. I m going on a trip tomorrow. Should I bring period supplies with me? What is this discharge. Why is it brown? Am I gonna start my period again? Thanks.

Hallow Dear,

A brown discharge denotes a stale blood or decaying tissue.

Brown discharge about 10 days after missed period is likely to be from one of the following reasons:

1. Missed abortion: You may be pregnant and now the baby inside the uterine cavity is no longer viable but has not been expelled out. You can confirm it by ultrasonography. Results of pregnancy test may be unreliable. If ultrasonography confirms missed abortion, please get the uterine cavity evacuated ASAP as delay may lead to heavy bleeding and/or infection. Please report to your Gynaecologist.

2. It could just be a delayed menses. Again this can be confirmed by ultrasonography.

Please do not travel unless you are diagnosed appropriately for the cause.
