Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Brown Coloured Urination While On Xarelto?
My 73 year old mother started Xarelto on 9/20/2017. She has also been diagnosed recently with atrial fibrillation, which she was cardioverted for last Monday. She was in sinus rhythm when she left the hospital, and back in atrial fibrillation today on follow up EKG. She has also been experiencing reddish/brown urine all day when she urinates stating the water is dark red/brown. I’m a RN and advised her to go to the ER. She’s super stubborn and doesn’t want to go. What are the dangers, besides the obvious one of bleeding uncontrollably, if she waits until tomorrow morning to be seen? Maybe the better question is how insistent do I be in suggesting/demanding she go to the ER tonight?
