Hi! I just want to know if its normal to have brown discharge before and after period. Im using birth control for 3 years.im sexually active and no discomfort during or after intercourse. And this past few days before my period i noticed a brown discharge on the tissue paper after i pee. But its just small amount only and it has no smell. And i experienced no pain or any discomfort im just so worried coz it just happened to me now.i hope you could answer my question.
Brown discharge as you described it, without any other symptoms is benign. That is, there is nothing to worry about. Residual /old menstrual blood can appear as brown discharge. Fresh blood will be red and old blood will coagulate/lyse and discolor to a brownish tinge. It could either indicate the onset of a period or the end of one.
Hope this reassure you. Wish you good health. Will be happy to help if you need further clarification.
