What Causes Brown Discoloration And Blood In Stools While Having IBS?

I have been diagnosed with IBS approximately 5 years ago. I am now undergoing more tests as I have had fresh blood in my stools and more intense stomach cramps. I have recently found myself having stools that are half light brown and half dark brown. Is it something to be worried about?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear welcome to HealthcareMagic
Regarding your experience with dark discoloration of your stool stomach cramps followed by a fresh blood in your faeces with a history of inflammatory bowel disease I am suggesting that you have a peptic ulcer disease with possible Ulcerative colitis

Yes this is definitely something to show concern please see a gastroenterologist specialist for further clinical assessment specific diagnostic tests such as colonoscopy as well as adequate drug prescription

I hope this helps
