What Causes Brown Discoloration At The Inner Eyelid Of A Child While Using Eye Lubricants For Chronic Dryness And Allergies?

I noticed my 6yr old son’s inner eyelid turned brown. He’s got chronic dry eye and allergies. He was prescribed eye lubricants and ‘pataday’ which we used for over 2-3 months now. General health is normal other than his eczema and constant cold/cough.
