What Causes Brown, Foul Smelling Vaginal Discharge Post C Section?

Hello, I had a c section five months ago with my son, when I first came home, I never bled, I had this brown awful smelling discharge that smelled like poop. My nurse at the time told me it was normal.... But I disagree. Nobody helped me so I ignored it, well now it happens everyday and I can t get rid of the horrible smell no matter how much I shower.. I m thinking its a possible infection???

Hello dear,
Understand your concern.
The discharge is foul smelling may be due to infection or post operative problems.
It may be pelvic inflammatory diesease.

Cause of it are:
1. STD :90% case due to gonorrhea and chlamydia.
2. Risk factor: sexually active teenagers
3. Douching increased risk
4. Previous history of PID

If reamin 5-7 days, you should consult gynecologist.

Do the following test
1. Pelvic examination: tender in PID
2. USG
3. ELISA and Nucleic acid amplification test to diagnose STD infection

Treatment of PID
1. Antibiotic: Ampicillin-sulbactam plus doxycyline
2. Analgesic: Meftal spas
3. Paracetamol if Fever
4. Cetrizine if itching.

Maintain hygiene as below.

1. Wash your vagina with this water twice a day for two to three days with warm water
2. Apply Apple cider vinegar: it has excellent antibacterial and antifungal properties
3. Salt Bath- Wash your vagina with concentrated salt water whenever you feel the itch. This will give you great relief instantly and prevent further multiplication of bacteria.
4. Antibacterial/fungal talcs: apply candid powder
5. Keeping The Vagina Dry (Not wet, clean well)
6. Wear Loose Clothing

I think first you wait for 4-5 days, it will resolved.

Hope this may help you
Wish you good health
Best regards
