What Causes Brown Jelly Discharge From Vagina While On Tri-cyclen?

I have been on trip-cyclen birth control pill for 6 months and this month I had a nasty brown jelly and I had a small amount of red blood to like one day when I was suppose to be on my period. Is this normal being on birth control or could it be a health problem.
