What Causes Brown Patches On Hands?

Hi! My 3 yr daughter developed brown patches on her hand in a day or two. The patches are flat, painless, no itching and started as red in color. Started with one patch at the back of the right hand and now they are three on the same hand(one between the thumb and index finger, second just below the little finger and the third one just below the thumb in the wrist)...please suggest what it could be, I am really worried and scared. Regards, Nimit

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your daughter might have fungal infection called Tinea because it is spreading, flat as well painless and also not itchy. It is usual to have tinea infection in this age. It can be easily treated with topical anti-fungals like Miconazone, Terbinafine for 2 to 4 weeks.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
