What Causes Brown Spots On Tonsils?

I have had brown spots on both tonsils ever since I can remember, I didn't think it could be serious until I accidentally read about it somewhere. I do not suffer from any kind of pain and I do not have any bad mouth smell. A doctor told me once that I have relatively big tonsils ever since childhood. I am a 27 year old female.

Hi dear ,

Brown spots on tonsils can mean many things like :-

- It could be pitting from where a little tonsil stone .

- It could indicate healing process of tonsils .

- It could indicate any benign and malignant condition .

I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan , throat swab test and take biopsy to confirm the diagnosis .

Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( penicillin or amoxicillin ) for 10 days .

For now do warm saline gargles and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for swelling.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
