What Causes Brown Spotting During The Periods And Lasting Longer?

For some reason, my period this time is lasting longer than usual and it s also very light. It doesn t really look like blood anymore. It looks more like a brown stain. Also, whenever I have my period, it s always very heavy and I would usually have to change tampons every 3 hours or so, but this time, one tampon can last me a day and throughout a whole night. What might be going on?

Need more details like age, sexually active, weight, height and on any drugs etc. The most common causes are infections or hormonal changes.
