Hi,
If you have always had regular and normal cycles and if this is a recent development, it is likely to be due to a temporary hormone imbalance. If you are sexually active and not on any contraception, pregnancy needs to be excluded. Please get a trans-vaginal sonogram, blood test for pregnancy, complete hormone profile and glucose tolerance test if needed. Sudden weight changes, stress in all forms, certain medications, infections, local causes and hormone disorders can cause menstrual disturbances. Please get a proper evaluation for further management. Hope this helps.
