What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge After Getting Off Birth Control?

Hi , I recently got off birth control (the shot) about 2 weeks now, and i have brown discharge. Not everyday though, my panties are clean, then i would have sex with my boyfriend and when he pulls out, out comes blood along with the brown discharge. But the next day it will be completely gone, no blood nor discharge. I don t what to think , is this normal ?

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. As you have stopped receiving the hormone, you are likely to have withdrawal bleeding. This should be like a natural period in the usual situation. You seem to be experiencing some hormone imbalance and hence, a breakthrough bleed. Altered blood is due to collection in the uterus and this is being expressed with pressure during the intercourse. Ovulation returns in a few weeks after the deposhot stoppage. Please get proper clinical evaluation and plan further management. Hope this helps.
