What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge After Having A Miscarriage?

Hi, I naturally miscarried 16 days ago. i had heavy bleeding and cramping for 3-4 days. Now, I feel good however I still have some sticky or sometimes watery brown discharge. Is this mean that my cervix is still cleaning out and is open. I want to start having an intercourse with my husband so want to be sure that it's ok to have sex. I don't want to get infection.
