What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge After Having A Safe Sex?

Hello, I recently had protected sex with my boyfriend (& I m also on birth control tablets), but part way through he noticed blood on the condom (I wasn t on my period at the time & am not meant to get it for quite a while) when wiping later I encountered blood & from then until today I have been experiencing brown discharge. What could be the problem? We don t think it s an std cause neither of us had sex before & we only use protection. I think the original blood might be because of not enough lubrication. Please help

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is nothing but an altered blood arising from minor mucosal abrasions. Nothing much to worry and it will settle by itself without any definite treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
