What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge After Having Sex While On Birth Control?

I had sex 12 days ago, but then experienced light brown-colored spotting for 11 days. I was on day 4 of my period at the time of intercourse; my period usually lasts about 6 days. The brown discharge started within 24 hours of intercourse. Should I be worried that I am pregnant? I am also on birth control. Despite being on birth control, my period was almost three weeks early, which I am assuming was due to stress as my mother was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.

Hi,
I understand your query.
If you are using birth control pills strictly as per advise, there is no gap in taking pills.. you need not worry about conception.
Hormonal contraceptives have side effect of intermittent spotting in few months to start with.
