Hi,

Many times women have irregular periods due to no real cause but to make sure I would advise you to wait another 2-3 days and repeat the test.

If the test is still negative then very likely you are not pregnant and if the brown discharge is going on but not real period then it might be advisable to have a gynecological examination and tests to rule out sexually transmitted disease like chlamydia and gonorrhea.

If you have not had a pap test in the last 2-3 years this might be a good time to have one done. Sometimes your doctor might also ask for a vaginal ultrasound to visualize your pelvic organs and make sure of the cause of the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
