What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge During Intercourse While On Copper IUD?

Hi! I recently had a copper IUD put in. I don t have any STDS and am not pregnant as I was tested for both before getting the IUD inserted. During intercourse (protected) I noticed a light brown discharge and am wondering what the cause could be. This has happened once before during intercourse but this was before I had the IUD. Any suggestions would be great!

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that it may be old blood. This is the most common reason for brown discharge.

The insertion would have caused slight trauma to the genitalia which would have caused the blood to be seen.

It should resolve with time but if you remain concerned then you can see your doctor for assessment.

I hope this helps
