What Causes Brown Vaginal Discharge?

i had my period about two weeks ago and now i been having dark brown stuff as if i were getting my period again but it never started i had this dark brown stuff for about four days. what does this mean? i always have regular period and this never happened to me before i took a pregnancy test today and it came up negitive.
