What Causes Brown Vaginal Spotting And Sensitivity In Breasts?

Hi. I supposed to have my period on the 30th of July but this time it was a brownish ,only seen red when I wiped myself.I also noticed that my breasts are bigger and sensitive, my tummy is not flat anymore... having a little bump, I eat less then before, even lost couple of kg s, I feel tired everyday and I m quite moody lately.I did pregnancy test but is negative.I went to the GP and he said without any check up to not worry it just a hormonal imbalance but this symptoms have been here now for 3 weeks. My next period is due around 26th of August, do you reckon to make an other pregnancy test or a blood test can show beforehand if I m pregnant. Thank you. Regards, Melinda

Hi,

Well, the cause of the yellowish or brown vaginal discharge is a common and usually harmless issue. Occasional spotting between periods might have this appearance and can be normal, especially if you're taking low-dose birth control pills. So in most cases this is not sign of disease. If it is, then usually this indicates bacterial vaginosis, STD or polycstic ovarian syndrome. Less common, some other hormonal disorders may be present.

In some cases, however, a yellow or brown vaginal discharge could indicate a serious problem. Although brown and yellow vaginal discharge often does not indicate a serious problem, it should not be ignored if it persists, recurs or is accompanied by other symptoms and then you should see gynecologist for further work up. In some cases, a yellow or brown vaginal discharge could indicate a serious problem.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
