What Causes Brown Vaginal Spotting And Stomach Cramps Despite Having Negative UPT?

My name is Kelsey, I m 19 years old. I had my son on May 13,2015 and I think I m pregnant again. I ve been have fatigue and been having stomach cramps. My last period started on August 5th & ended on August 11th. I m not exactly sure when I ovulated. I had unprotected sex thru August 17-August 27th. My next period is expected on September 9th. I started spotting on September 2nd off and on . It s been going from light to heavy then back to light. So it s definitely not my period. I went to the doctor on September 3rd and I had a urine and blood pregnancy test done and both came back negative , but my nurse said its still very early. Could I be pregnant?
