What Causes Brownish Discharge During Menstruation?

I had my menstrual period I use tampons I don t remember if I took it out on my last day, I still keep bleeding not that much only wen I go use the bathroom is when I noticed the bleeding, I just noticed I m spotting brown my boyfriend said I look pregnant I took a test and it was negative I m just curious if I left the tampon in I had intercourse already I m afraid it got pushed in

Thanks for writing to us.

If you left tampon inside vagina and involve in sexual intercourse, then there may be chance of pelvic or vaginal infection, leads to brownish discharge or spotting.

Other causes could be old endometrial tissue, hormonal imbalance, effect of birth control pill, mental stress etc.

Maintain genital hygiene properly and wait for next coming period. As your home pregnancy test is NEGATIVE, then you have nothing to worry much about implantation bleeding.

I suggest you to consult with your doctor and undergo pelvic or vaginal examination to remove tampon.
