What Causes Brownish Discharge During Menstruation?
Hello, I had the contraceptive implant in 2012, it ran out in November 2015 and I had it replaced December 2015. I can t quite recall for how long but I have normal periods irregular periods but when I am not on my period I seem to have a constant brown discharge, some days it may stop for a few days or a week then I ll once again have the dark brown discharge. I am definitely not pregnant and I ve always put it down to the contraceptive implant until today I told my mum who said I should get it checked out by a doctor just in case. Is this a common side effect of the implant?

Yes it can be, especially if there is some kind of a hormonal imbalance or fluctuation either directly caused by the implant or due to a secondary cause. I do not see any serious cause for concern, but I would most certainly recommend a visit to your doctor to find the cause and address it.
