What Causes Brownish Discharge During Menstruation?

okay so i been off the depo shot for a while now, like 4 to 5 months. and sice i been off it i havent satrted my period. like i just been spotting. and sometimes its not blood its a brown. and now recently i been getting a off orangish brownish color...what is it? is my ph balancegoing to go back to normal?
