What Causes Brownish Red Vaginal Discharge After Unexpected Miscarriage?

Hi Dr. I am eighteen years old. I had an unexpected miscarriage about 6 weeks ago and my doctor thinks that i may have only been about four or five weeks pregnant. I am not expecting my period for a couple more weeks. I had a vaginal discharge that is brownish red but its stringy?? Can you give me some advice?
