What Causes Brownish Vaginal Discharge During Pregnancy?
I just discovered early last week that I am pregnant by first response tests (2) and went in for blood work this past Tuesday I am scheduled for an ultrasound on this Tuesday coming ... my last period was in may so I could be anywhere between 8-10 weeks ... I just went to the bathroom and noticed that I have a brown discharge and am very worried ... I am 41 and this is my first pregnancy ... I am having no pains though what should I do as it is the weekend and my doctor does not return to work until Monday
Brown vaginal discharge during any phase of pregnancy is not a good sign. It indicates risk to the products of conception. May be the baby inside is not living for quite some time (missed abortion).
Please get ultrasonography done. Urine pregnancy test will not give you reliable clue as it takes about a week for the pregnancy test to become negative after the baby has become non-viable.
If ultrasonography diagnoses missed abortion, please do not delay the termination of pregnancy for the risk of profuse bleeding due to clotting disorder (DIC) and/or severe infection.
Please report to your Obstetrician without any delay.
I hope you will take the advice and act promptly.
