What Causes Brownish Vaginal Discharge Post Intercourse?

Hi, I recently became sexally active around 3 months ago but I have only ever taken part in foreplay with my boyfriend. After the first time we did anything I experienced brown discharge for around 4 days after. Each time after I never experienced this again, then I had my period which stopped us being able to do anything for over a week. 2 weeks after my period when we became sexually active again, the brown discharge returned only extremely heavy this time. I am very worried that something might be wrong.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Brown discharge can be due to infection or hormonal imbalance. A pelvic examination should be done by gynecologist to rule out pelvic inflammatory disease. A swab test should be done to rule out the possible causative agent also.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nishad B. N., General & Family Physician
