What Causes Bruise And Swollen Veins On My Fingers?

ON two occasions; a week and a half ago, and today, unexplained bruises showed up on a different finger. Tonight, my vein swelled. Prior to these incidents, I had been getting red pimples on my fingers and hands that were sore when rubbed. They seemed to be caused by lotions, but I stopped using those lotions and started only using Lubriderm. That helped, but I still have a few of them. What is your explanation? Monica

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of bruise and swollen veins on my fingers. This seems like an insect bite hypersensitivity reaction. I can also occur due to vericose veins. You may use a moderately potent topical steroid cream e.g either mometasone furoate 0.1% cream or triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% cream or betamethasone valerate 0.1% cream. Cortisone is a very mild steroid and it might not prove to be very effective initially when the inflammation is severe. If symptom persists then consult vascular surgeon for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
