What Causes Bruise Look Alike Scar On The Index Finger After Drawing Blood?

Hi, my wife had about 8 vials of blood drawn this morning and afternoon. she is a hard stick. After many many attempts they see blood. But we noticed that she has a bruise looking thing on her index finger knuckle. She did not get stuck there. Should we be concerned? Is this a blood clot?

Hello,

Drawing of blood can sometimes lead to bruising and hematoma formation. However, the blood must have been drawn from the cubital vein and not from the index finger.

Bruise on index finger could be due to trauma. I suggest you to get a complete (CBC) to check the level of platelets. Low platelets can lead to spontaneous bleeding.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
