What Causes Bruise On The Middle Finger?

I was at volleyball practice earlier and jammed my middle finger going for a ball. Immediately after I felt pain, swelling, and my knuckle on the finger started to bruise. I finished the practice while swelling/bruising got worse. Came home, took about a 3 hour nap and woke up to even more swelling and bruising starting to go all the way along my finger. It s been about 15 hours and I still have pain when I try to bend it, swelling is also limiting that motion, and bruising has gotten worse. Now I also have a large lump on my knuckle. I didn t want to waste money to go to the doctors for them to tell me nothing, but do you think i should go and get it checked out?

hi..if I were ur treating doctor for this case of swelling,bruises and limitations of movement of middle finger following trauma I would come up with the possibility of fracture of finger bone on the top and I would like to advise u hand xray..
I suggest u to visit an orthopedic surgeon and get ur hand xray done.
